Marketing Trends In 2017

Marketing is the lifeblood in any business. Going into 2017 without a marketing strategy is like diving into the ocean and hoping for the best, hoping not to get eaten by sharks, hoping to have enough energy and air to get through the Pacific. We need to acquire new clients, keep current clients, expand our market share, increase our loyalty and so many other things. The biggest trends of 2017 will help marketers engage consumers more directly and increase their marketing reach.

Native Advertising. 

Native in advertising is key. If we are smart we will jump on this trend. Marketers love this form of advertising because it doesn’t disturb user experience. Users can’t differentiate between what is paid advertising and what is part of the site. Content that is created natively is more useful, interesting and targeted to a specific target audience. People engage more with native ads rather than a generic ad.

Content marketing is a strategic marketing technique to create and distribute relevant information to attract a specific target audience. It’s not something that you pay for and then it’s over like a traditional advertising campaign. It’s an ongoing process that’s best integrated into an overall marketing strategy.  The key in content marketing is to be consistent, entertaining, have your tone of voice, commune your story and these steps will drive your audience to engage with your content.

Influencers 

Influencers are still under paid. I truly believe that.  They can sell more shoes than any advert. Including influencers in your marketing strategy this year is a smart move. It’s not something new, people buy from people they trust. Word of mouth is dominating with influencers promoting their own brands and having product placements. Influencer marketing gives brands the opportunity to create word-of-mouth buzz through personalities whom consumers already follow and admire. When influencers are used effectively, they create natural ways to seduce a target audience.

Video. Live Streaming. 

Video connects immediately with the viewer, conveying emotion and a message that often is far more memorable than static words in a social newsfeed. More than 1 billion people use YouTube on a regular basis (this number has increased by 40% since March 2014). Facebook is pushing native video now more than ever. It even launched Facebook Live to promote video. Instagram (owned by Facebook) launched Instagram Live as well. We have a great opportunity to create amazing heart-warming stories with videos and engage with people on an emotional level.

There you have it, the marketing trends for 2017! We can either do the same things we did in the past or we can keep moving forward and adjusting our strategy.
